Everyone has dreams, but for those who work hard to make their dreams a reality, there can also be opportunities. For Arielle Dickey-Louis and Henry Arbolaez their dreams of becoming Web developers led them to apply for the Future Leaders of Tech Scholarship supported by Knight Foundation. Now, in just their third week at Wyncode, we catch up with these two individuals who have gone from dreaming to making their dreams come true.

On Sept. 21, Arielle and Henry started in Cohort VII of Wyncode Academy’s Web Immersive Program located at The LAB Miami in Wynwood after being selected from over 100 applicants. We checked in with them to see how they were doing:

Arielle Dickey-Louis

Q: Describe your experience so far in three words.

AD: Challenging, amazing and rewarding.

Q: Have you figured out your dream career in tech?

AD: I want to work for a company that supports a healthy work/life balance. I want to do better for my son.

Q: What’s your message for anyone considering attending a coding school?

AD: TAKE THE LEAP OF FAITH. It’s been so tough but also so rewarding. Before I felt stagnant and now I feel that I’m up with the times.

Henry Arbolaez

Q: Describe your experience so far in three words.

Henry Arbolaez: Intensive, amazing, and informative.

Q: Have you figured out your dream career in tech?

HA: My dream job is to work for a big tech company like Google or Amazon. I want to create something that people use, so working for big companies will get it in the hands of the masses.

Q: What’s your message for anyone considering attending a coding school?

HA: Don’t be afraid because it’s a change. Here you get to build YOUR ideas!

Are you dreaming of a career in technology but don’t have the financial means to attend Wyncode? The Future Leaders of Tech Scholarship may be a fit for you. Applications for the next two spots are currently open. The scholarship is intended for those who are underrepresented in the Miami Tech scene, with an emphasis on women and people of color who do not have a four-year degree. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Find out more about the scholarship by clicking here.

Join us on Nov. 19, 2015 at The LAB Miami for Pitch Day! Come support and celebrate the completion of this journey for Arielle and Henry as well as witness the beginning of their careers as developers.
