Wyncode Part of NESTA Launch in Support of White House Tech Hire Initiative

Today, in support of the White House and President Obama’s TechHire initiative, App Academy, Dev Bootcamp, Flatiron School, Galvanize, General Assembly, Hackbright Academy, Hack Reactor, MakerSquare, Turing School, and Wyncode are announcing the formation of a new trade organization, the New Economy Skills Training Association (NESTA). NESTA’s mission is to establish best practices, standards, and increase accountability for outcome-based NEST organizations. Their first initiative is to develop and agree on a standardized outcomes reporting methodology. NEST organizations are welcome to apply for NESTA membership here:

“Wyncode is extremely excited to be part of the founding group of code schools behind NESTA,” Wyncode’s co-founder Juha Mikkola said. “We are focused on student outcomes and share in the vision of other leading code schools to track these in a consistent and transparent manner. We hope that this movement will make it easier for students to identify which programs are truly effective at placing them into the workforce in relevant junior web developer positions.”

As part of their commitment, NESTA wrote a letter to President Obama outlining their commitment to publish outcomes on an annual basis and have them verified by third-party CPAs, based on the following agreed upon criteria:
