Our Wyncoder Jide Delano shared his experience going through a military bootcamp training and how he related that to his experience on our 10 Week Web Development bootcamp program. He also details the different aspects you should consider when choosing the right bootcamp for you.

What is a coding Bootcamp?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last decades, then you’ve probably seen an ad or 2 about a coding Bootcamp. Coding Bootcamps are essentially intensive workshops designed to teach you certain coding skills. The popularity of coding Bootcamps has been multiplied immensely by the growing demand for web developers. I attended a coding Bootcamp called Wyncode Academy. Below I will be sharing my experience. If you are someone trying to get into Web Development or Software Engineering and do not want to spend 4 years in college getting a Computer Science degree, a 3-month program, that provides similar benefits is quite the lore.

Price

The cost of coding Bootcamps can vary. I attended a 10-week Full-Stack Web Developer program at Wyncode academy and the price was $15,000 USD. If you think that is expensive, keep reading. If you read my article on High paying jobs that do not require a college degree, you will see that the average entry-level salary of a developer is $63,000. When you put the cost of a 10-week coding boot camp in that perspective I believe the price is worth it.

It’s called a bootcamp for a reason. You have to be pushed to your edges, in terms of always learning, always learning, always learning.

Difficulty

These coding Bootcamps can be quite intensive. They are designed to get you up and running as a developer as soon as possible. On average, at Wyncode, I dedicated about 12 hours every day learning code and programming. There is a reason they are called Bootcamps. Get ready to work hard. But don’t worry, the course is geared towards beginners, so if you put in the hard work, your efforts will be rewarded.

Job Placement

Good Coding Bootcamps offer you many perks. Even after finishing the camp, their services don’t stop. Wyncode Academy boasts of a 90% job placement rate for its students. In my graduating class of 25 students, 5 students have already obtained employment less than 2 weeks after completing the program. Wyncode continuously helps with resume assistance, job placement, and career consulting even after graduation.

My recommendation

Overall, based on my experience, I would highly recommend a coding Bootcamp to anyone looking to dive head first into the world of web development.
