138 Web Developers and UXUI Designers came together and formed 28 teams that - for 12 hours - worked together to create amazing technology to #ConnectMiami to the world. We are so proud of the incredible tech created in our 4th Hackathon with eMerge Americas, in partnership with General Electric, Ultimate Software and Ford.

A Hackathon (usually 48 hours long, although in this case it lasted 12 hours), is a sprint in which web developers work together to hack new technology, in the hopes of winning a prize. In the last 4 years, Wyncode has partnered with eMerge Americas to host their celebrated Hackathon - this year it was definitely one for the books! We invited Miami’s junior to senior tech talent to build technology that connects and transcends borders, collaborating with other ecosystems and individuals.

Our mission was simple: to highlight the brightest tech talent and most promising startups and companies in South Florida. We sought out to engage the developer and product design (of all experience levels) communities of South Florida - bringing together individuals and company teams to compete in a 12hr challenge to build a web application.

By the Numbers:

A total of 38 teams signed up to compete and 29 of them made it to the 1st round of judging consisting of, roughly, 4 developers and one product designer per team. 17 of the 38 teams were company teams. This group of hackers consisted of 16 Product Designers and 116 Developers, 138 total participants.

The unique aspect of this Hackathon was that we opened it for both Software Engineers and Product Designers - ensuring a higher quality and execution of the projects. This Hackathon is supported by the amazing teams of GE Digital, Ultimate Software and Ford Motor Company.

The prize was $10,000 Cash Prize & meet and greet with Bill McDermott (CEO, SAP). After many hours of product design and coding, the judges selected the winning team: Silver Logic. Congratulations!

Overall, the 2019 eMerge Americas Hackathon was an end-to-end success. Thank you to everyone who made this possible! Big shoutout to our sponsors and judges who support us in nurturing Miami’s tech ecosystem - and of course, our partners from eMerge Americas, can’t wait for next year.
